Miss Lizzie's Recommends wasn't planned, it happened over brunch at The Pony and The Boat. Mr. Jim and I shared a little shout-out on our own pages. It was such a hit there, that I brought it over to Miss Lizzie's. And just like that, a new tradition was born.
The Pony and The Boat | Kitty Hawk

Tommy is both a neighborhood neighbor and a business neighbor. Mr. Jim and I love sitting at the bar at The Pony and The Boat. It is more intimate, and we get to know the bartenders, the regulars, and, when Tommy has a free moment, we chat about business and the neighborhood. The Pony and The Boat is open for Dinner year-round and open for Brunch in the off-season. If you haven't been, treat yourself to brunch or dinner - it's a gem! Steamers| Southern Shores

Mr. Jim loves jockeying for the corner seats at Steamers' bar. We started coming to Steamers when they opened their Southern Shores location in 2016, back when we were still annual vacationers to the Outer Banks. When we bought our house in Southern Shores in 2017, it quickly became a favorite go-to because it was so close. Over time, it became a favorite because of the people - we love catching up with Linda and Dee when they have the time to chat. The bartenders and chefs are some of the best on the beach. At Miss Lizzie's, we love it when we get to do a celebratory dinner at Steamers! Check their website out here: Steamers Restaurant & Catering
Sea Chef Dockside Kitchen | Oregon Inlet

Sea Chef at Oregon Inlet has become one of our most special celebration spots. In 2025, we went for our anniversary and again for my birthday. The father-son duo behind Sea Chef, Jeff and Mac Buben, come from an amazing culinary background, including award-winning restaurants in Washington, DC. Here on the Outer Banks, they now serve incredibly fresh, local seafood. It is a beautiful drive down to Oregon Inlet. The food, the people, and that sunset over the marina make it absolutely worth it! PS: We've even threatened to drive down there to get their Sea Scallop Bucatini to go! Beach Food Pantry - Chef's Challenge | Duck Woods Country Club

One of the highlights of our year was the Beach Food Pantry's Chef's Challenge, hosted at Duck Woods Country Club for 2025. Talented chefs from across the Outer Banks come together every fall to compete while raising funds for the Beach Food Pantry. It's fun, it's delicious, and it's one of those events that reminds you why the Outer Banks is such a special place. This year, Miss Lizzie's was a sponsor, along with our dear friend Chris Cimko of Cimko Strategies. Learn more here: Beach Food Pantry
Cavalier Resort | Virginia Beach

Looking for a luxurious, restorative getaway from the Outer Banks that is within a two hour drive? The Cavalier is your place. We've gone up for Thanksgiving and for little escapes from the OBX, and every visit feels like a reset. There is so much to do and so little time: cocktails in The Raleigh Room, dinner at Becca, a cozy nightcap in The Hunt Room, a tour of the Tarnished Truth Distillery, and a blissful spa day at SeaHill Spa...this is just at The Cavalier. Across the street, the Marriot adds even more options with Orion's Roof and Tula. When you need luxury within reach, The Cavalier never disappoints. Check their website out here: Cavalier Resort
